FPCD Mission to Timor-Leste: Strengthening Partnerships for Peace and Progress
From July 26 to August 2, 2025, the Foundation for Post Conflict Development (FPCD) conducted a high-impact mission to Timor-Leste, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to peace, equity, and locally led development. The delegation, led by Claudia Abate and Muriel Bubbio, engaged in strategic meetings with national leaders including President José Ramos-Horta, Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and Minister of Health Elia dos Reis Amaral.
Key outcomes included plans for a new Memorandum of Understanding to support digital training for midwives, a focus on maternal mental health, and infrastructure expansion of FPCD-supported clinics. The mission also featured community visits to Ermera and Passabe, where urgent needs such as ambulances and family housing were identified.
FPCD deepened its collaboration with the g7+ Secretariat, explored future support for a women’s center on Atauro Island, and confirmed a professional exchange program in the USA for midwives from Same. The mission concluded with renewed momentum for youth employment and a shared vision for resilience across fragile states.
