International Advisory Board
 
The role of the International Advisory Board is to provide international advice on the governance of the Foundation for Post Conflict Development and its activities and projects as it moves forward in becoming a leader and partner in post conflict developmental assistance world wide. Members are not involved in day-to-day running of the Foundation, but their experience and advice is invaluable.

The International Advisory Board will help identify potential projects and resources that are concurrent with the mission of the Foundation.

Members have been invited to join in recognition of their experience, positions of international prominence,influence on the international stage and their willingness to contribute to the Foundation’s mission statement.

Honorary Members

President Jose Ramos Horta was previously Prime Minister and the Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation for Timor-Leste. In 1996 he was co-laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize for his unwaivering efforts in bringing peace to his homeland.

Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão, the leader of the independence movement of his country, became the first democratically elected Head of State of Timor-Leste in May 2002. Prime Minister Gusmão is also Founder and Patron of FPCD’s sister Foundation, Fundacão Xanana Gusmão.

Ambassador All-Nasser has held many leadership positions within the United Nations community such as former Chair of the Group of 77 and China and represents Qatar on the UN Security Council. He is also accredited as Ambassador to Canada and many countries in Latin America.

Ambassador Gaspar Martins has held many leadership positions in the United Nations system including representing Angola on the UN Security Council and most recently being elected as the Chairman of the newly established Peacebuilding Commission.

Ambassador Wenaweser has held many leadership positions including Chair of the General Assembly’s Third Committee in 2002, President of the Meeting of States Parties on the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 2003 and currently Vice-Chair of the Open-ended Working Group on Security Council Reform.

Ambassador Eiriksson has had a prestigious international career and currently serves as the Secretary of the Council and Head of the Department of International Law and Human Rights Director of International Law Studies at the University for Peace in Costa Rica.

Ambassador Andjaba has held many leadership positions within the United Nations community including representing Namibia on the UN Security Council, during which time he led a Security Council Mission to Timor-Leste.

Ambassador Chaves is a highly decorated international figure, including the French Legion of Honor. He is a founder of the University of the Andes and has had an extensive diplomatic career in the Colombian foreign service and represented Grenada at the Organization of American States and Kyrgyzstan at the UN.

Dr. Rosandich is a major figure in sport around the world as a coach and an educator. He is the recipient of many decorations and honors, including The Olympic Order, for rendering outstanding services to the Olympic cause. He also sits on the Olympic Committee’s Commission for Culture and Olympic Education.

Richard Jordan has been a pioneer in establishing creative mechanisms that think outside, the box, having been one of the four co-founding editors of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin.
Richard has served the NGO-civil society world as Northern Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of NGOs that follow the Commission on Sustainable Development and serves as Chair of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with ECOSOC, NGO/Committee on the UN and Sports. Richard has served as a member of various prestigious Boards that advance social causes.

Dr Behnam has made substantial contributions to development and environmental causes and was active in the work of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. He now leads the IOI and works to uphold mankind’s common heritage – the seabed and the oceans, with particular consideration of the poor.

Mr. Mourad Ahmia is well known career diplomat who is currently an active board member of many international foundations. He has lectured at different academic and research institutions and authored “the Group of 77 at the United Nations” published recently by Oxford University Press. Mr. Ahmia has been honored on different occasions with awards, distinctions and decorations.

Mr. Leong runs a management consulting firm for development stage and distressed companies. He advises public, private, and not-for-profit entities in environmental, transportation, health and wellness industries amongst others in the US and Asia. He is active with the American Red Cross and the Humane Society.

 Professor Dianne Davis has had a broad career in integrated products and services internationally for the hospitality, healthcare, educational industries and non-governmental spheres. The ICCC, a not-for-profit organization, focuses on multi-stakeholder avenues for integrating a society for all ages.

Ms. Goudsouzian has a broad international experience, having worked at the United Nations in New York, and as journalist for leading papers in Afghanistan, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. She is Founding Editor of Soma Digest, Iraqi Kurdistan’s only English-language news digest.

Ms. Cheng has extensive experience working in the entertainment, legal and internet industries. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Entertainment, Art and Sport Law Section and Corporate Counsel Section and is licensed to practice in the State of New York and serves as FPCD’s Attorney.

Ms. Gitis is a talented musician who, amongst many recordings, created a CD in honour of and benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. She is currently composing a piece that will fuse western music with Timorese music concurrent with her production company motto of the art of music making a difference..
